I just looked at my trusty Time Warner cable box & I see that CBS has tonight’s Bills preseason game - and that it’s in HD! I find this very surprising after the last few years of CBS’s HD coverage of the NFL where it was pretty much 50/50 if the game was in HD.

CBS lists their NFL Schedule on this page, but you’ll have to bookmark it & check back each week, as I’ve never seen them have more than 2 or 3 weeks of HD programming listed (you’ll see the 3 preseason games they’re airing are in HD, but nothing for the rest of the season)

CBS has been telling people (like me) that they’ll have more games in HD each year (see my CBS HDTV Introduction Post) and I really hope that they can get with the times - like every other major station that airs NFL games - and finally air EVERY game in HD.

It’s like I’ve been saying, just get DirecTV and get their NFL Sunday Ticket. Each game is presented in HD….granted it’s $250 but you can watch every game of the season. (Unless, it’s in blackout)

I wish it was that simple, but this is not a Satellite vs Cable problem.

DirecTV carries all the games that Fox & CBS have the rights to air. All games on Fox are in HD, but it looks like CBS has only 3 HD camera crews, because last year, when they aired 6 or 7 games (like they will in Week’s 1 & 2) only 3 of them were in HD.

That’s why the number of HD games that DirecTV claims to air is only 150 instead of just saying that EVERY game they air is in HD.

CBS is to blame for the HD problem & if it continues, this will be 3 years since they claimed that they’d have all the games in HD NEXT season :(
